dvd drive not recognised

This is a really annoying problem. My dvd drive on my dell x300 keeps disappearing from "my computer". Most of the time if I shut down, remove all connected usb devices, wait 5 mins and then reboot, it reappears. I lose it whenever I connect any usb device although it doesn't always show immediately. (the dvd is actually an internal usb device in the docking station. Please please help someone!!!

thanks

but I wondered if it could be lack of resources - do you think it might help to get a powered usb hub?

lack of resources......highly higly higly doubt that......unless you have like 80 printers, 42 modems, and like some zip drives :P .....ATX compliant technologies are really good about not sucking down system resources, dont waste money on the usb hub thing, how many usb devices/ ports do you have? and did you say a yes or no the the jumper thing, did you check?

dude.....its not lack of resources

....one of the guys in my Computer Networking II class just had a similar problem with his DVD ROM, he said that it was a plastic adapter between the IDE cable and the drive itself....
