Hey i have 2 drives on my computer top one is the burner second one is a ordinary dvd drive... Lately its dissapeared from my computer and not listed in device manager either, It has all the plugs in correctly i checked them, Does anyone have any ideas on what i might have to do?

double check the jumper settings, and make sure that the right IDE or SATA connections are in place (I know you might have already done this, but it doesn't hurt to double check) another thing you can do is go into your bios, and see in the boot priority if there are two optical drives recognized. If there are, then you know that the drives are working, but MS is not recognizing them. Also, if you had drivers with your DVD drive (rare) then you can uninstall and reinstal those. Other than that, I'm not sure why else it would not work.

This problem could be hardware or software. My first guess would probably be software related. How old is the drive? It's not completely uncommon for drives to fail.

And as ms-das mentioned, you could check the connections and jumpers, but if you've not been poking around inside your system there probably wouldn't be a problem there.

You mean hardware related? :P

But yeah, if it randomly "just disappeared" from 'My Computer' then odds are it crapped out. You could get a new DVD drive for around $20, or a DVD burner for $30.
