DVD Drive wont recognise dvd!!??

I have a fairly new computer. the stats are in m signature. But i recently bought a dvd movie ( Ali G in Da House) and it wont play. It makes a beeping sound after I put it in (maybe to say that its trying to read it, but it doesnt even try to play it. No spinning or anything. It plays all my other dvd's.
And it is not a region problem. And even if it was, it would try to at least load the dvd.

What could the problem be? The dvd is in perfect condition...

Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks
 
The disk could look good and still be a reject! bad disk? With other disk running normally the disk itself should be tried in a different player or drive on a different system to see if you have problems there. These disks are produced in such large amounts for distribution the only thing you can do is return it for an exchange if you just bought it abd have the receipt.
 
That brings it down to the model drive you have not supporting the format the disk is in. Take a note on the disk type and see if you have any others with the same brand of disk while being different producers for different movies. The drive is a newer dual layer type that no longer accepts the older format used for the disk will be the obvious answer if the drive itself is not faulty.
