DVD drives

Hi, my friends DVD drive stopped reading diskes but the tray would eject' so he decided to replace it with a new one but the new ones it doing the exact same,they seem to be getting power but windows won't pick them up, in the bios it seems to show them picked up in the sata ports, if anyone has any IDE it would be greatly appreciated

Go into device manager and check if there are any yellow warning triangles.

There is a yellow triangle, it says it can't start it because the configuration information in the registry is incomplete or damaged

Run the fix it program on that link. Then reboot the system.

Hi I have tried what you have suggested and I have also put another working DVD writer and it is also not installing properly, any other idea a can try?

Go to that link I posted and follow the instructions to manually delete the registry entries then reboot the system.
