DVD films

They use dual-layer discs which are available at stores like Comp USA, but are very expensive. I think I've seen a 25-pack for about $100.

Last i heard they were around $2 a piece, but still alot more expensive when you compare it to the $0.15 regular DVD's out there.

Isn't dual layer much less compatable, when it comes to what can play back burnt disks? I've never really messed with them, but I've head of some incompatability with players. Again, I mean burnt ones.

That's what I read but I've also heard of them going up to 9GB. Then there's HD-DVD and Blu-Ray which can hold a lot more. I'm not sure about HD-DVD but Blu-Ray goes up to 40GB I think...not too sure.

Blu-Ray is coming out this summer? Someone in the forum said it will cost about $800, that can't be right...

For the first Blu-Ray player, 800 sounds about right. The dvds will probably be pretty expensive as well.

I think the first Blu-Ray player is going to be $999 from Sony, but I'm sure other companies will make cheaper versions though. Doesn't your TV need an HDMI input in order to play Blu-Ray movies on their highest resolution?

Well the first HD DVDs are coming out this week or the next
I saw them one from Toshiba for $700 Canadian retail at Future Shop

The movies are supposed to be somewhere in the $28-34 range.

I have no idea about burnable dvds though or anything PC-related :P
