dvd formatting

im trying to burn an iso into a DVD RW, and alcohol 120% (and other burners for that matter) tells me that the dvd isn't formatted, and that i need to insert a clean dvd. I only have two blank dvds at the moment, and the same thing happens to both of them. How do i format the dvd???

Blank media like cd and dvd read only and read/write disks are already formatted. An iso image can not be burned to a rewritable disk. Those are simply "drag and drop" type disks for copying files onto. When burning an iso you would a cd or dvd read only disk like a cd-r, cd+r, dvd-r, or dvd+r. You can drag the iso file onto a dvd rewritable for storing it.
