My next door neighbour has just come to me with a problem which i can't figure out.
He has a laptop with a DVD RW drive and was trying to burn some DVDs and XP decided to not show the drive. He went into device manager to see if it was there and it was, all drivers and everything alright so he did a system restore and all was fine for a couple of boots, but then again, it went off of my computer and device manager and programs that burn it and it wouldn't automatically read the discs when put in. He decided then to put in the discs that came with his system (the restore discs, so it had to boot from bios) and it found and read them but had to dvd drive drivers or repairs so he couldn't use that.
Do any of you have any ideas why it could be in the bios and device manager, but not any other windows application?
