DVD Playback

I am having a problem with DVD playback on mu new PC. Seems I get very large black phrames at top and bottom.

This phrames at top and bottom are larger than when I play that same DVD on my other computer and when I play them on my ordinary (not on any computer) Sony DVD player.

I have tried various DVD playback software, with the same result. So I guess it's got to with some configuration on my computer in general and not on the DVD playback software(?).

Grrr... Some times I REALLY miss having a man around in the house. Hihi...

The new PowerDVD (versions 5 or 6) will allow you to strech a widescreen movie to full screen ... I don't like it though.

Are you using a widescreen DVD? If you are using a widescreen DVD you will get the black lines on the top and bottom of the screen.

I am playing 16:9 DVDs on an orindary 4:3 television. I realise that I therefore will get:
1) Black bars at top and bottom, or
2) Vertical strech of image.

However, the problem is that DVDs in 16:9 give about four cm black bars when played in my ordinary DVD player, wile my DVD player on the PC gives 9 cm of black bars. And the strange thing is that in both cases the image seems fine - not streched in any way. But I want to play DVDs on my PC and get only the usual 4 cm black bar.

Any ideas???

That seems to be inevitable because of the resultion difference (Number of pixels) between a TV and a PC. Therefore naturally the cms of the black bars are going to differ. You could try some DVD player software that would allow you to crop the image you want to view. Otherwise, I am afraid I cannot help.

JAN :D

You're not supposed to like it.

LOL yeah, you measure by resolution lines, not centimeteres :)
