DVD player out of dvd rom?

is it possible to make a dvd player out of a dvd rom that can play divx and avi files?

its a simple question, hopefully it has a simple answer too, beside not possible

No, you still need the MPEG2 decoder and what not. However, I have heard some of the cheap players simply use a standard PC/IDE DVD-ROM. None of the one's I've opened have been as such, but you could go from DVD player to PC-DVD-ROM

I guess its not gona work than. My mom likes that asian dramas and I just hate it when she takes over my pc.
