DVD Player Problem... Help Needed!

Hello everyone!
I recently bought a DVD rewriter for my computer as the old DVD drive did not rewrite DVD’s. I have successfully installed the DVD rewriter and it works very well, however the new DVD drive do not allow me to watch DVD’s on my computer. I have tried using various programs such as GOM Player, Windows Media Player and VLC Player. When I use both GOM Player and Windows Media Player it states that there is a problem with the DVD codec, whilst I am able to play DVD’s using VLC Player however the viewing and sound are kind of staggered and jittery. I spoke to my brother about this problem and he gave me a trial version of WinDVD Player, this enabled me to watch DVD's perfectly however the trial version has now expired. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other free computer programs that would allow me to watch DVD's, or if there are any settings on my computer that I should change.
Many Thanks

What you need is codecs, usually for DVD's you generally only need to update your windows media player but you might as well go all out and get a lot of codecs so you don't have any trouble in the future with other video formats.

KLite Codec Pack you'll be able to run DVD's fine.
