DVD+R help

I've always burned with DVD-R's and never had any problems, aside from the occassional defective DVD. But now I have DVD+R's, and every time I go to burn, my computer screws up.

Also, when I put the DVD (Memorex) into the burner, it takes forever/never for the drive to become ready.

Here's the DVD burner I'm using http://www.enuinc.com/dvd-son-rw-010-black.html . I don't know what the problem is. I'm using Nero 7. Help please. Thank you.

is there seperate lenses for dvd+r and dvd-r? bc if there are your dvd+r one might not be working...

you might try looking online for other people having problems with this.. there may be a firmware fix on the manufacturer's website.. hmmm i dont know what else to tell you

Try some other disks... I know some drives just don't like certain brands. I've yet to have a problem with my burners, but I have heard of similar problems with specific brands.

You do run into packs of defective DVDs every now and then, even with quality brands.

every time I go to burn, my computer screws up.
What do you mean by that? BSOD, error when burning, or just a DVD that claims to have burned fine, but doesn't work?

I'm going to have to look into this one first. I have no idea if it has separate lenses.

I've tried several DVD's from the same batch, all the same results so far, and I've only ever used Memorex.

ceewi1, Well what happens is it starts to write the lead in, and doesn't go any further than that. So I go to cancel, but the program kind of stalls out. Then I go to kill the process, but it won't go away, so I end up having to reboot.

This last time I put a DVD into the drive, I listened to it and heard it making funny clicking noises.

Thanks for the help everyone, I'm going to see if there is a firmware update or something.

I have the exact same dvd burner I have never tried memorex, I use maxell dvd+r's and never made one coaster yet...I never tried dvd-r's yet as I have no need too. If I was you just stick to what works, if its -r's that work for ya then why mess with a good thing?

might be the burner. They bought me a Sony Q28A for my shop pc, and it is supposed to burn +r, but it won't will only do -R

oh well I just can't wait to get home to my LG GSA 4167 or NEC 3550A
They burn anything,, DL, +R, -R what ever you got anyday of the week anytime of the day.
