DVD-R Not Functioning

My DVD-R drive opens and close correctly, but when i put a disc in, the light flashes and i hear it spinning, but the drive doesn't read it. So i put the same disc in my CD-R drive and it works. So i cleaned the lens, and still nothing happened. Any suggestions?

Does it detect anything under my computer? If not you might have to check to see if its plugged in all the way. Oh yeah are you using both at the same time?

I ment are both CD drives plugged in..

It's possible the drive has gone bad. If you insert a disc and it doesn't detect anything in Windows... and you tried other drives and it works... you simply checked all the connections... even the jumper on the back of the drive, then chances are the drive went... Clunk!

Probably best to replace the drive anyway!
