DVD-R not usable

I can't use 50% of my dvd's ; I got an error message telling that the dvd isn't blank.

My dvds are Fudjifilm DVD-R and my dvd drive is an Hitachi.

SHould I buy DVD+R instead?

What do you use to burn them program wise? Most the time its either a crapper burner (Hitachi wins this one) or a crappy program.

Also do you leave your computer alone while its burning with screensaver etc disabled? Nero solved my issue of having failures...since I have not had a failure to date. Also NEVER burn files bigger then 200mb chunks (aka no 4GB single files) as this causes issues as well.

Correction: It's not a Hitachi, my dvd drive is a Tsstcorp for "Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corp"

I use Cyberlink Power2Go but I had the problem with Ghost.exe too.
It occurs before the burning process start. I could have to try 4 dvds before one is accepted.

Sounds like a junk dvd drive or junk dvd's

Both brands are not that great

I would say invest in a new dvd burner (lite-on, sony, samsung) and better dvd's (hp, verbatim, etc..)
