I just got a new AOpen DVD burner. It has specs for both DVD+R and DVD-R so I guess it will work with either. Is there an advantage to one over the other? Thanks, Craig

well, they say that DVD-R's work with most DVD players, and not many DVD+R's will work. I don't know, that's what they say...LOL.

It all depends on the dvd player you got some like both and other don't like -'s and sometimes they don't like +'s. As for my self All my players will play - and + with no issue.

I use DVD+R's for my movies and data, i havent has a problem playing it in a DVD Player yet, and i probably got them cause they were cheapest, lol

ok, but I feel more comfortable with the DVD-RW/-R Discs...

-r's were originally the only ones to work in dvd players, but that was something to consider like 5 years ago, soon after +r came out, all dvd players began supporting it. As far as a different price, as far as I know they are almost always marketed at the same price. They use different methods of burning, each with its pluses and drawbacks, but when it comes right down to it, close your eyes and pick

Just curious are 100 dvd-r or dvd+r 4x worth buying for 5 bucks?
Cheap DVDs are usually low quality. Although you might not be paying much up front, the data that's stored on them may be worth more. I certainly wouldn't rely on these for anything important, and keep in mind that the percentage of discs that actually work may be comparatively low.
