DVD Recorder works forever?

Hello,

I have an LG DVD recorder, and I write a DVD every two or three days.

Is there any limit to the number of CDs/DVDs you can record with a particular recorder, or can you use it forever? And is there any thing you need to do to take care of the recorder?

Thanx for the help.

they will normally last for a long time, especially with LG being a great company and all. but if they do fail, it would be solong from now that u forgot ur password to CF.

I have burned over 150dvd's and 150cd's in the past 3months and my stock drive is still working fine!

I still have an LG from 1998 that's just a CD burner, but man, it still works just as new to this day.. I'm not saying all will last that long, but from my experience I haven't had one to fail (yet)..lol

i had a 2 yr old pioneer PATA and burned over 1000 dvdr's with it. as you can see i no longer have it as it has been giving me problems. no problemo as burners are cheap nowadays. as a matter of fact the samsung is faster and cheaper than the pioneer and with comparable burn quality.

LG are good drives, thats all I,ve used for awhile now. But its like anything else in life. It could quit while your reading this or last till 2020 when no one uses DVD burners anymore.

not mine, but my Dad's computer, which he bought online from Frys.com, compaq, had a problem with the Drive. it made weird sexual sounds when booting up. so then we just shipped it back, and we got an exchange that wasn't very sexually active.

lol, sexual sounds? What kind of drive was that? :P

Some dive just last longer than others. One of the ways to find out if your drive is starting to go bad is to use good quality media like ty and then play it on your dvd player and see how hard (noise) it working to produce the image. TY media play very smoothly.
