Hi all, my first post.

My son aged 3 doesn't handle dvd's too well and has a habit of scratching them. I've tried to record the originals onto dvdr so he can scratch away while I keep the originals, but they dont fit! Apparently there is some software on the net? Any answers greatly received.

thanks Adam

why do you guys all use your kids as an excuse?

am i the only one noticing this humorous pattern?

it's like piracy is ok if it's for kids.

Its not piracy if its for one's own use though. If I were serous about piracy I'd probably be in the know with regard software!

well if the originals dont work when you try and play them, they wont work when you try and record them, just keep away from your kidand if he really needs some to scratch by some cheap blank cd's

I just dont get why he has to scratch dvds with movies on them in the first place, just buy blank ones with out movies on them

I'm begining to get that 'tarred with the same brush' feeling. I've no doubt that there are unscrupulous users of dvd recording software and some may have even obtained info from here. But I can rest assured of my innocence and intentions. If I were intending on a wave of piracy, do you not think I'd be more informed?

As a farewell note, 'he who casts the first stone' is a classic adage to pretty much every pc user in existence. Who can really step forward and say with complete honesty that they have never used/copied pirate software?

So if my thread is being ignored because of it's tenuous link to piracy, then think on what you will. But, I have no doubt that any suspicious minds (Holdensxx and Heyman) have been party to some form of software misdemeanour!

By all means 'claim' your innocence, but how genuine is it? Those who are knowledgable with PC's do tend to be the worst offenders.

I never said i haven't pirated a movie.

There are, however, strict rules at this forum regarding speaking of such things, and are forums on the web that cater to this topic.

I read and fully understand the rules. My intentions are not illegal and hopefully neither is the software I was hoping to be advised on.

As said, I'm just looking for advice on how to back up the dvd's.

OK, this has gone far enough. Rules are rules. If you have to break the copy protection on a DVD, that's illegal and will not be discussed here.

If you you honestly can't keep the disks away from your child, there are such things as disk protectors/skins that are basically just plastic that go over the disk. I have never personally tried them, but perhaps it's something you'd want to consider...
