i have just installed a new dvd rewriter on secondary slave as my original dvd/cdr is on master. windows reconises the dvd rewriter but will not let me burn to dvd it says windows had a problem copying these files.

the dvd rewriter is + or - and i am using a dvd-r disk .
but if i use a normal cdr its ok. have i set something up wrong.
hope someone can help. thanks in advance

What program are you using? Windows will not burn to DVD by itself, it needs a program such as Nero or Roxio.

Yeah

Yes indeed. You will need a second party software to be able to burn onto DVDs. Windows should not be your choice even when it comes to simple file burning on CD-R/RWs. Use Nero Burning Rom (requires you to pay for it). It's worth getting.

JAN :)

Nero all the way! I also agree that you should never use the built in burn capabilitys of Windows far data or anything else for that matter.

I like burning w/ CopyToDVD over Nero's burning engine. Nero is a much better versitle burning program though.

Yes I dont use Nero either for burning dvd's but I do use it for everything else. I use dvd shrink for making backups of my dvd's.

i am using DVD shrink for backup of dvd's, but burning then with Nero, seems to be working smoother than burning with DVD shrink. I also am using iTunes for burning audio cd's now, seems to have alot better sound output options.

eh?? ... Shrink uses Nero, but yea I don't like auto burning w/ Shrink.
