dvd ripper trouble- please help

i have imtoo dvd ripper 2.o. i need to rip my dvds in divx. whenever i try to rip anything the video comes out good but the audio comes out with like one second segments where the audio is just gone and its silence. ive tried changing a bunch of the settings in the imput and output settings and it always does the same thing. does anyone know what the porblem is?

Thats because the DVD's have copy protection, to try to stop you from copying their movies.

This is not allowed to be discussed here, and is illegal.

i dont think that is why it happens. i have a dvd burner on my vcr and i burned a show on tv onto the dvd. then i tried to rip it to my computer so i can put it on my mp3 player. im pretty sure it isnt illegal becasue it is the same as taping it onto a vhs. any other ideas of why it does this?
thanks

The DVD recorders that I've used use CSS protection, so yes, according to the DMCA it is illegal to copy.

i dont understand because if dvds have protection against ripping them then what is the purpose of dvd rippers if they dont copy the audio right. also how can stores sell them if ripping dvds is illigal.

I should have emphasized that the DVD recorders that I have used (which have been Samsung) employ CSS. Yours may not. If you bought that program recently at a store in the US, then it probably doesn't break copy protection. However, companies based in other countries which don't have the same laws as the US can sell software that breaks CSS. As for the audio sync, I'm not sure, I've never used that specific program. You might want to email tech support since I assume you paid money for that program.

I'd just try a different ripper, since it doesn't break the css, I can say try Auto GK, I'm using it, it's not perfect but I have better results with it than I do most anything else I've tried

thanks a i downloaded a version of auto gk version 2.27. when i click start it says on the box on the left that it started encoding and its demuxing and indexing. it also openes another window that says DGIndex. is this what its supposed to do becasue i waited and nothing seems to be happeneing.
thanks

Now you're openly admiting to using a means of breaking the copy protection. This post should end here being that the software you're asking for help with is being used to bypass protection used to prevent you from copying the material. i'm not the first person who's said it.

According to the DMCA, you can not bypass any protective measures to copy material.

Auto GK won't break encryption, so if he did, it isn't as a result of what he has said thus far, to answer the question, Auto GK is actually a couple of smaller programs that each do some part of the conversion, if it does nothing for like 20-30 minutes, then something's wrong, but otherwise just let it run, it'll take probably at least 2 hours to rip one
