DVD ripping/burning software

I think this has been answered before but what Software does everyone recommend for ripping and burning DVD's of video files from media player to a DVD?

Im using a Sony DRU-820A drive and a employee copy of ULead right now. I havnt played with it to much but it seems easy to use. (work at Office Depot .)

Ripping = DVD Shrink

Burning = Nero/Roxio (whatever your preference, I prefer Nero)

Encoding = Variouis open source utilties that encode divx and such

ok, now say if i have a video thats 6.0gigs and im trying to put it on a dvd 4.7gigs what should i use to compress the file?
