If I put a DVD ROM in my system one I do not have any Document on can I use win xp pro this is what I am running to findout the Burn speed and Write speed and other things of the drive??
Somehow??
 
can you rephrase that question? I just didnt understand... are you saying if you install the dvd rom, is there a way to find out the speed of the dvd-r?

It is usually labled on the dvd drive itself

You can install something like PC Wizard or Sandra Lite and it will tell you the model number and what read and write speeds it has.

what I ment was this.
Drives can take so many diferant types of DVD to Burn to Dabble Layer Singale Layer and so on.

Then there is the Write speed and Read speed and so on.

all of this is never on the Lable
 
Look at the label and find a model number. Typically googling this number will find sites that give all grades of info on the drive... What media it can burn, what speeds it can burn them at, etc etc...
