Dvd-rom

I went to the store today and bought grand theft auto san andreas going home i relize its a dvd rom.
I go and look at my harddrive and it says

compact disc
Dvd rom

Yet when i put in the cd nothing happends.
how can i fix this ?

when you say "harddrive" do you mean disc drive? and try going to my computer and opening up the drive from there

Yes i did mean the disc drive. What do you mean by this ?
i put in the dvd rom and nothing happends i click my computer and the only visable " device with removable storage " Is my cd drive (e) i clikc on this and it is blank.

please help me with this
