DVD-RW won't display contents!

I just copied about 2.5 GB of files, music and pictures to a DVD-RW disc. Now when I insert the disc into the DVD drive, the contents don't display. In fact it displays a blank disc. I can't access anything on the disc. Please help, I have very important files i don't want to lose. What can I do?
 
I once had the similar problem.
My DVD player can be shown on my computer but didn't work, clicked it and it responded as please insert a disk, but the disk was already in the driver.
I didn't take it much cause it was cheaper one, after some days it returned to normal itself!
 
it sounds like the burn didnt take, look on the burn side of the dvd and you should
see if something was burned on there, maybe try using a different program like nero
or roxio

I looked on the other side and it did burn. I couldn't erase it either. Luckily I still had my original files on my HD. I used a new DVD-RW disc and this time I right clicked on the DVD burner drive and formatted the disc for drag and drop. It worked! Now I can store my stuff on DVDs. With the previous disc, I formatted using the DVD burning software. Windows may not have recognized that format.
