DVD Shrink 3.2

I bought a new laptop with Vista basic and downloaded DVDShrink 3.2.
Anyway I tried to backup my dvd movie with dvdshrink and it lock up my burner and it would not read the movie. So I had to get tech to get it back to going. Is there any software that I could use to burn to my hard drive.
Please help

or dvdfab platinum, by itself.

for legal purposes of course. for you own home movies you put a protection scheme on on and forgot which one.
