dvd shuts my comp down

hi all hope someone can help, the problem is that when i open my dvd rw it turns my computer off, any body got any ideas, its only 6 months old, the drive, thanks carl

I assume this just started recently, have you installed any recent Windows Updates? Also, perhaps reinstall the drivers/firmware for the drive...

That is the strangest problem I have ever enountered. LOL never heard of it???????

Yes, I agree.. It's very very strange. It can be caused by the PSU (not enough power to run the PC). That's my opinion.

That is pretty unlikely, a DVD drive uses very minimial power but it's possible.

i agree with elite... its VERY unlikely, unless he's running like a 150watt or something ....
