I want to convert some of my own DVD's to AVI format so I have an extra copy in the event I lose my DVD. Do any of you know of any software that can do this?
It's reasonably straightforward as you don't have any decrypting involved. You could check out Videohelp list. I've used AutoGK which is freeware and works fine. It's far less confusing than Gordian Knot. I've also tried Handbrake but not extensively. Both get high ratings. Personally I use TMPGEnc Xpress but it's one of many payware apps.
I tried AutoGK and it wasn't what I'm looking for. I tried handbrake and couldn't figure it out. I am now downloading AVS video converter. Any other suggestions?
Actually I haven't used handbrake, I used Leawo DVD Ripper before, but it's paid, if you just need to rip to avi, you can download the free dvd to avi converter.
Ive been using DVDFab for a few years now and I cant complain. Can convert to any media. the new version 8 can do bluray as well. awesome app. www.dvdfab.com
