DVD Won't work

While tinkering with my PC I managed to mess it up completely.
I've since had to reinstall windows (fitted a new hard drive at same time) and put everything back. It's OK but my LG DVD writer, Now drive G, won't autorun any disks. It will let you explore the contents etc. All I get is

Model is LG GSA-4160B

Autorun.exe - Application Error

the application failed to initialise properly (Oxc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application

Any ideas?

I did get a message as well with another disk which was something about "path not found"

Edit: Have tried new firmware version, Windows saw it as new hardware but it hasn't solved the problem. Still getting the same error message.

Windows usually gives you an options menu whenever a disk(cd, dvd) is inserted into a drive where you can check off which option you want to see everytime such as play cd, take no action, etc. which will look for the default player to load it. Until that is corrected you can try manually playing a disk by going to the task bar menu of the player to choose the run option.

if its an error like that it usually means there is a file corrupt somewhere. I dunno if this is what you are looking for, but try going to: support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;153981 and that may have the answer.
