dvd writer

im looking at a computer and i want a dvd writer with double layer writing and at around 16x can anyone point me in the right direction. it would be helpful

Just a DVD burner? I have an NEC 3520 that's been a nice one. Quiet, fast, reliable... Cost me $60 but probably goes for less now...

Now I've yet to try DL disks, but regular ones have been fine...

OEM is the dvd writer on its own, whilst retail is the dvd writer with the ide cable and some software. retail is a little bit more expensive

BTW, there is a black version of the NEC drive... I think the retail actually comes with silver black and white face plates.

IF you willing to spend up to $250 just get the best one on the recomendations the Plextor PX-716A which should only cost you around $110.
