It gets that error. Used Power2Go and also my Cyberlink PowerProducer that came with my DVD writer, and that crashes also. Uninstalled and reinstalled both of them.

I have two gig of ram and 2.4ghz dual core processor.

Does anyone have any ideas why it could be doing this? I burnt a disk two days ago no problem, but since then it hasn't been working.

Will try to burn a MP3 disk today, see if that works. So any suggestions in the mean time would be good thanks.

what does your system event logs say in admin tools ?

is your pc infected ?
download the trial version of Nero and see how that does.

I wrote a MP3 cd before, and that went fine, it just seems to be DVDs. And sometime it get half way through the checking phase of the burning process and it just closes without that message popping up?

sorry,
control panel / admin tools / event viewer / system log

..if control panel says "pick a category" click classic view

You don't have starforce installed on your computer do you? (It's a game protection thing rthat comes installed with certain games)

Dude that is really weird. Is your internet access realy slow.

Prorbaly is not this, although I have heard of ppl hacking a PC and then using them to distribute bootleg software.

is the activity light on your modem rapidly flashing

Nah, my net is quite fast, 150 - 400kb/s download speed depending where I download from. And 30 ping on CSS.

The modem in far away from my PC so am never really there to look. I have AVGfree on my computer, and scan it regularly.

just for giggles , click start, then run, type cmd, press enter
type netstat -a
hit enter
do you see any unusual connections to remote IP's

I really don't know what an unusual one would look like, as it all looks kind of unusual.

But if it was something using my internet connection wouldn't it show through my internet usage? After 15 days for the month it's only done 2gig. And how would that stop me burning DVDs?

It's called being a detective. A lot of those established connections could be IE / web sites. Well I suppose if something were to throttle back your processor usage that might kill off your burning a dvd. I just know that when weird stuff happens there is a good chance it is some malware ( trojans, virus, spyware)

what if you do a ctrl + alt + del
then click task mngr
then performance
you can see your processor performance ( split screen if yoo have HT processor) and i think also networking. You should be down to zero or 3 to 4%.
sometimes virus scanners running in the back ground will cause a higher value

your network should be a flat liner

go here spywareguide.com
click tools
free online scan
--did it find and remove anything ?

My CPU usage is at 0%, network is also at 0%. PF useage is 559megs?

It didn't find anything, I use Windows Defender and that checks about twice a week also.

Awww, kof, I thought that had done it. As soon as I installed it, it burnt a DVD for me. Then went to do another, but alas, the problem is back. Sometimes it does that error right at the beginning, other wise it will do an error into about 20% of the checking phase and will come up with an error report.. RAWR!

Can anyone make heads or tails of that?
