DVDs and DVD-Burning Software

I am interested in burning some DVDs. Is there any free software out there for that? I burn my CDs for free by using Windows Media Player. How about DVDs and what kind of DVDs are recommended?

Imgburn, cdburnerxp, nero lite are some of your options.

I would highly recommend using DVD-R but as far as what brand to use... I use memorex and no issues.

I second Imgburn, use nero lite if you want some thing commercial.
I have the nero 10 media suite, but it's junk it will kill performance, money and space, but the burning rom is good, so your better off getting lite. Imgburn is a smaller download btw, it's only 4.4mb, nero lite is 31mb.
