DVI-D Connection

Please help me out here. I'm looking for a new monitor. I really don't need anything fancy, so I'm looking for a 19 inch flat pannel in the range of $300-$400. There are several on newegg.com and other sights, and a lot of them have a DVI connection. Can someone explain what that is and what the advantage is over the standard blue 15 pin connection. Thanks.

I figured so, however is the DVI faster or a better picture quality? If I buy a cheaper monitor, will it really matter if I have DVI or not?

no its not faster, its just a different signal standard that is used for LCDs (some can use 15pin, or so I hear)
