Ok so I bought a new computer and new monitor. The monitor has both vga and dvi ports but my computer only has vga. I have windows media center and i watch tv on it but it seems like it should be a better picture. Now my computer came with a nvidia geforce 6150 se graphics card but i dont really know if that is good. first, do i need to buy a new graphics card in order to get a dvi port on my computer? also, what are the advantages of dvi over vga b/c i've heard that dvi will be more crisp. any help would be greatly appreciated.

The difference between VGA and DVI isn't that great, it's mainly an issue if your running a large high resolution monitor. The 6150 is fine for video and such, but not for gaming.

I wouldn't think so, I had a 22" LCD as well and tested different cables and didnt notice any difference.

Now if you get a higher end video card and cable, you may notice a slight difference.

If your watching like non-HD stuff on your computer, the DVI would do absolutely no good, 720x480 really isn't 'good' enough to see any real change. For Gaming, when I first got my PC before this one, I just bought a $20 DVI cable off of Newegg...
