DVR-109 Not burning (not the burner)

Hello,

Recently bought a new system (Specs below) with a Pioneer DVR-109 burner. Problem is no DVD's will burn at all. It begins to burn and gets as far as a single line around the DVD then stops. Doesn't matter if I am using Nero, Alcohol or any other copying program. I have changed burners, I have another DVR-109 in another machine and I put it into this system to get the same result. The same goes if I try and copy CD's. So I am convinced it is not the burner.
It appears that it can read them ok but fails on burning.

One thing I have also noticed when inserting a DVD eg. a movie, viewing the drive in windows explorer, the label on the drive doesnt change to the title of the DVD. However, on other PCS it changes as soon as the DVD is inserted.

I have reformatted the whole pc and it has made no difference.

Any suggestions what else to do or what the cause might be would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks in advance

I found the fix for this problem. The bios that comes with the K8S-MX Motherboard does not allow burning with the Pioneer 109. I am not sure whether it is incompatible with other burners. I flashed the bios this morning, upgrading to the latest version and now burning works fine.

Well thats what you get for buying a cheap motherboard!!!! lol

Yeah exactly. The mobo is the most important part which should not be the cheapest. It should simply be the best :D
