Dx10 To Dx9

Ive been looking for help for a while now to run my BF2 and somone told me that if i have DX10 installed that would make it now work. So i was told to have Directx9 how do i switch it so i can play?
 
You certainly do not need DX10 to play BF2. For the moment, you can only get DirectX10 if you have Vista, it comes with Vista. If you're running XP or lower, you should have DirectX9.0c I think and that should make it. If it still doesn't work try re-installing.

k cause ive been trying to get my BF2 to work on this computer and it just doesnt seem to want to work. When i try n join a server it just doestn connect or show any info on the server. So i was on a BF2 support forum and they told me to try making it DX9. I had been convinced it was cause of my vista 32-bit. But now when i try to install it i get maybe a quarter of the way done on the first disk and it says error restart from beginning and ive tried to restart it like 3 times now and it still says it.
