I just got this card and installed it not long ago. My mother board, Asus A8N SLI deluxe, had a power connector near the pci-e card slot, but I am unsure if the card needs plugged into this. There is what appears to be a connector on the end of the card, or is it for something else?
The power connector is not required, as you are not running SLI.
The connector on the top of the card is for connecting two cards in SLI, the slot you've circled on the motherboard is a PCI-E x1 slot. Needless to say, they don't plug together.
There is a power connector but its behind your sound (white) you use that when you run SLI, but most of the time I plug one in for the hell of it, never had a problem!
