E-machines M5309 problems

i got a problem with my E-machines M5309 laptop. for some reason somtimes when i turn it on after i press the power button i can hear the hard drive spin up cdrom start up and all the lights come on except i get nothing on the screen. I have to keep turning it on and off and eventually it will work but somtimes it just shuts itself off for no reason. But them other days it will work with no problem at all. also it will not wake up from stand by i can hear everything startup except screen is black i have to turn it off by holding power button and turn it back on. anyone have any idea what may be wrong. it worked fine for over a year until just one day i get these problems turning it on. and it keeps doing it
 
It sounds like the bios information held in the non-voilitile ram is starting to fade. Your bios probably needs to be reflashed with an update if the chipset itself or another hardware like the power supply circuit isn't failing.
