Greetings all,

....With the advent of windows vista and "7", outlook express was eliminated and apparently is not installable....I did a very cursory reading about "Thunderbird" e-mail program(?) and was curious as to if anyone has used this or a similar program...

...I have a senior friend (using Vista) that has to physically sign into gmail in order to retrieve his/her e-mails and likes the way outlook express works w/out problems....has anyone used "t-bird" (or similar) and how easy it is to use?...any picts of the interface?....I would install it here but, i don't want to screw up my system.....THANKS.

Yeah, if he is use to outlook express, then thunderbird would work well for him. Both are very similar in setup/looks and use.

........thanks for the reply....is it simply downloadable to vista? I never used win 7 or vista and really don't want to!......

**note...i just looked at the t-bird web site :http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/download/?product=thunderbird-7.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US and at first glance it only mentions win 7**

...was NOT part of my question and, if you had read further, you would have noticed the the prospective user does not use firefox. thanks anyway - my question was solved already.

Now then Mr Grumpy you haven't changed at all, as Thunderbird emanates from the Mozilla camp I see nothing wrong with 'ryan.white's' answer and he took the time to confirm it's easy use as well.

1)..i plainly stated to the poster that the prospective user DID NOT USE FIREFOX so, the reply although appreciated, was NOT RELEVANT and i SIMPLY pointed it out.

2)..Since firefox was not relevant, additional info as to HOW firefox does or will work is too, also not relevant.

3)..base on the above 2 facts, my statements stand in good posture.

4)..what's with the "name calling"? that only indicates that your point is merit-less.

It's called Mozilla Thunderbird, re-read his post, he did not mention Firefox, YOU DID, they both come from the same camp.
