this is my first computer build, and from the posts i have made on this forum...you can tell that it hasnt been a smooth build. I assumed a few things that screwed me over. I noticed the temperature of my E6750 cpu is at 98 degrees celsius, is this an ok temperature for the cpu temperature. I think its a lil too high...but am not an expert.

lol, your CPU is not at 98C, it does not run at 98C. Anything over 75 or so and it will throttle back, and not too much past there it will shut down completely.

What are you using to monitor the temps?

the bios shows the sys temp as 58 deg. Celsius and cpu temp as 98 deg. Celsius

Edit: also the computer does shut off randomly

i felt the back of the case, where the cpu is...it didnt feel warm at all. But i thought maybe...its some internal stuff. My first time messing with a new age cpu. my old processor is pentium 4, 2.66 ghz single core. this is way way more powerful, i have a heatsink fan on it and its spinning. I have two case fans, one in the back sucking out air and one in the front (with a filter on it) sucking air into the PC. and the room the computer is in is comfortably cool.

haha we all figured as much >_>
I was joking.

go download intel thermal analysis tool for an accurate temperature or check your bios.

i dont think you would even get to the desktop screeen with that temp, try redownloading ur bios or update it from nvidias website, also feel the heat sink and make sure it is firmly placed and what type of mobo do u have

You do have the heatsink and fan installed, and plugged in right? And you did use thermal paste/compound between the CPU and HSF right?
