pretty straightforward here, do you think that its worth extra hundred bucks to get the newer model? any and all help on this is greatly appreciated

Yeah, i would wait. I think they are coming out on the 20th. They will cost the same and probably better performance.

i have no problem waiting seeing as i am prolly going to piece this computer together over the next month or two, who is making the 45nm and what is it, im not up to date on processors, as you can prolly tell by my sig lol, thanks for the help guys

Intel. Current CPUs are 65nm; 45nm is the next stage of CPU evolution. They will run on less power, run cooler, and be more efficient.

I never really understood the price on the 6850 either, the 6750 is lot better deal and before I would pay for the 6850 I would just get the Q6600.

yeah i would get the E6750.

of course it would be better to wait for the 45nm. but im an impatient person.

The price difference between the 6550 and the 6750 is like 20 bucks, for a 333MHz increase in clock speed, and then 100 bucks between the 6750 and the 6850 for the same increase again.

It's even worse when going from the Q6600 to the Q6700.
