The newer E8400 chips don't tend to OC as well as the older steppings, but for $150, this is still an incredible deal.

Depending on how you use your PC, the E8400 may or may not be the best bet. For gaming, my E8400 is incredibly fast and runs circles around my Q6600 rigs. For video encoding, etc, my Q6600 machines beat my E8400.

For reference, my CPUs are:

E8400 @ 4.2 GHz (Primary workstation)
Q6600 @ 3.6 GHz (Backup workstation)
Q6600 @ 3.6 GHz (Home server)
