e8400 over the q6600

Right now I can get the E8400 for 280 bucks at zipzoomfly.com. They have them in stock. My question is should I spend the extra 30 bucks for the E8400 or get the q6600 that comes with a free game for $254? I would rather have the E8400 but I don't want to spend that much on it. What would you do? Or do you have a better suggestion than those two?

I need to buy something pretty quick. I have everything else bought for my new build.

just get a quad. it preforms better than the e8400 in many things, and soon enough, it will own the e8400 in multi threaded programs.

If you're OCing, I'd say Quad. If not, the higher clock of the 84 would give a boost in any "lower-caste" Multithreaded and singlethreaded programs, which is to say the current majority of apps, and I believe, though am not sure of, a higher overclocking potential as well as lower temps afforded by the smaller fab process. Still though, it's more expensive, doesn't come with a free game, and doesn't support the hypothetical onslaught of any quad-capable (Read: competant) software, which seems to be gaining ground as Intel has recently purchase the Project Offset game engine. Many analysts believe this to stem from the desire of a more contiguous and concentrated effort to invest more intimately in reactive multithreading capability.
