IF you already have XP and want to try vista but to scared, just cut your hard drive into 2 partitions, if you have the space... Put the vista cd in and install vista on the second partition, not touching XP. once its all installed when you boot you can choose between XP and Vista... And have both.

nope, one doesn't know the other is there. ysa you have an 80gig, cut it into 2 40 gigs with disk management.. then install Vista. THey wont see each other once its started. But you can save all your docs in the same place if you want. No profomance decrease other than space left...

I have two partitions 40 gb each in fact like you said, one has 12 gb free space the other 15 gb, is that ok?. How do i know which partion has my win xp pro on it? It is the one with the windows folder or something?

you will have to format one of the partitions.... vista likes a lot
