pretend i have new viddeo card... but my current card is installed... if i were to install the new.... do i have to go to control panel and uninstall the hardware on the screen? or all i have to do is pull off the card?

you should uninstall the drivers then turn off the computer remove your old card put in your new one start the computer up and install the drivers for the new card

Go into safe mode and uninstall the drivers (only if different company card, like ATi and Nvidia) and then just pull it (with the computer turned off, of course) and put in the new. If the chipset is by the same company (upgrade from a GeForce 6600 to a 7900, for example, or a Radeon X800 to an X1900) then you dont need to uninstall the driver, just reinstall them when you start back up.
Edit: barely beaten!

o0k.. i think i understand now...

but uhh want to confirm.... current is x700pro catalist driver.... upgrade to x850xt.... so i dont have to uninstall the driver... right?

so in my situation... all i have to do is pull out the x700pro.... no need to do anything else.... right?

i think you dont have to uninstall the drivers before you install the new card, it is because after installed the new card the window should detect a new hardware itself...and of course it asks you for the "new card driver"
