edonkey slowing down internet

hi,
i'd like to know why edonkey seem to be slowing down my internet connection - while it's not even using 1/3 of it - and how to fix it.
my connection is adsl 1024, bewan's modem, edonkey tcp port: 4662, and browser is firefox (but the problem also occurs with IE).

that would be caused by the amount of upstream bandwidth being used. it happens to me when i use bit torrent.

the only answer is to put a cap on the upload bandwidth being used
