So I have been out of the hardware market for awhile. Since I built my quad core system last summer (little over a year ago), I haven't payed much attention to it.

One of my dad's computers at his business has a couple corroded capacitors on the motherboard. So seeing it ran 2000, he wants me to build him a comp, which I will do the data trasfer, while upgrading to XP to go along with the other PCs at his office.

Pretty much runs accounting programs, and a database program to keep all the customer information, and of course internet browsing. So pretty much office apps and such. No gaming here.

So pretty sure it will be a integrated video motherboard, along with 2gb of ram.

Here's the goal-
make me a build for this application with a budget in mind. Keep in mind-no PSU/case/keyboard/mouse/monitor/operating system needed.

I thought forsure one of the intel ones but now I see AMD x2s at around the same price. I used to have one and it was a great multitasker. Also keep in mind there will be NO overclocking because I want it as stable as possible, don't need unexpected crashes.

TIA

Well it sounds like you just need a CPU and motherboard right? I would recommend a AMD AM2+ board and CPU to match. It also depends on your budget too. What are you looking to spend?

For $133 you can get these:

Board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131330

CPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103211

Or for $113 you could get:

Board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103211 (same as above).

So I guess it really comes down to what you're going to spend.

RAM as well. but it's probably better going with AMD in this situation, because it won't be overclocked, so a higher STOCK clock speed is better
