EEE PC 1005HAB Power Port Fried

So, I took my EEE PC to a RadioShack several years ago to get a new power supply and cable because my rabbit had chewed through the original one that I had gotten. The girl working there plugged a normal power cable into it, like an AC/DC power plug. Unfortunately, the port started smoking, so I yanked the cable out as fast as I could.

I decided to go to Amazon and just buy the right cable on line. I've been able to keep my laptop working until a few months ago when it just stopped charging. Up until a few months ago, I've been readjusting the adapter tip to keep the laptop charging. It would flake out and stop charging until I readjusted the plug. Finally, it just stopped charging all together.

I would buy a battery charger off of Amazon, but it would be a little pricey, so I'm hoping to just find a way to fix it. I pulled apart my laptop and found a component on the board that had been smoked. (See the pictures.) I'm not sure what this component is, if it's a diode or a resistor or what.

Can anyone tell me what it is? Also, any suggestions on what to do to fix it?

None of the links work, just upload the photo to like imageshack or photobucket and give us the link to it.
