EHDD crashed and it can't be detected.

So I own a 160gb WD Passport. It's around 3 years old so I assume it's a 2.0. It's reformatted to be compatible with my Macbook Pro. I inserted it to our HP pc and I saw that it's exFat or something like that. I ignored it because I was just transferring some documents from it to our pc. It showed something like Scan for Errors and I clicked Yes. It was doing fine until I cancelled it because it was taking too long. So when it cancelled, I reinserted it and now it won't open and my pc won't even detect it! I tried it on my Mac and it can detect it. I tried to reformat it on my Mac because it at least sees that I inserted an HDD but it said something like POSIX operation failed. As far as I know, Posix is an unix thing. Can anyone help me how to fix my drive? It sucks. I may have lost the files in it but I have it backed up. I just need my EHDD fixed. Help?

When you say it isn't detected on your PC do you mean it doesn't show up in "my computer"? Try connecting it to your PC and looking in disk management. (Right click on My Computer, pick Manage. On the left there is a console tree, in it click Disk Management. Your disks and volumes appear in a graphical view and list view on the right.)

Yup. It doesn't show up in My Computer. At first, it detects the driver installing, took too long, cancelled it then since then, it's not showing up on My Comp. Okay, I'll try your suggestion tomorrow. I have to sleep now haha :) I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you!

edit: still can't detect it

Okay. New problem. PC can detect it now but everytime I transfer files, my pc hangs up. Mac can detect it as well but it's taking extremely long to load up the files. What's up with that? What do I do?

Plain and simple: You shouldn't have cancelled the scan. I've learned not to run it when prompted (I lost EVERYTHING on my work flashdrive one time). Best bet would be to copy everything off the drive and reformat it.

Only reason I cancelled it aside from taking too long was that it wasn't even moving. There's suppose to be a green bar to see the progress and it took about 30 minutes before I cancelled it. I can't even copy the things on my drive to my pc or laptop. It won't even detect it so I don't have any sort of access to it let alone reformat it.

Try accessing it using a Linux recovery disc like PartedMagic

If you are comfortable with opening it up, you could also try removing the drive from the casing and installing it internally to see if it's the drive that's failing or the enclosure.
