Hello. I would like to know if someone could give me a procedure for setting up a eithernet connection on a dell laptop. I do on line streaming and the wirless is to slow. I have a dell inspiron. It it were xp i could do it but this laptop has windows 7 and cant seem to be able to get it to work. I dont think its ever been set up for this. The prior owner only used wireless.

Is the ethernet controller enabled in the BIOS/Device manager? If not, just enable it and plug it in to your router and it should go online.

Sorry but I know hardly anything about windows 7. I'm used to XP-Pro. Do I find that using f8 on startup??

Chances are it's your internet causing online streaming to go slow, hardwiring it may not make much of a difference depending on your wireless strength.
