Has anyone seen this documentary, if you get the chance to see it, I highly recommend it.
They attach a camera on top of this elephant, Miss Ellie, who is the matriarch elephant and watch what the elephant gets up to over a 3 week period.

I was amazed at the way they communicate. I think they used the term infra sound which cant be heard by humans and can span great distances.
They also speculated that they have a sense of humour and empathy.
