Eletrical Problem

I recently aquired an old comp. Everything seems to be in working order except for the wiring. I tried plugging it in and nothing happened so i am assuming the wiring is messed up since the person i got it from said something was wrong with the wiring. Is there any way i can replace the wiring?

what wiring are you talking about? the atx connectors 12v or / and the molex connectors? is there like a switch in the back of your psu?

No switch that i can find. I tried plugging it in once and nothing happened than after about 2 minuted it sparked.

If you saw the mysterious blue smoke come from either the mobo or the PSU it's time to get a new one. (That blue smoke always stops things from working, dunno why :P ) Even if it didn't smoke and you DID hear/see it spark from anywhere, it's still gone. Spark most likely equals short or overload, both of which are not good. In the mobo if it shorts/overloads SOMETIMES it can be fixed by replacing a single piece (which would be very small and very hard to find on new mobos) in the PSU it could mean the fuse or capacitors, neither of which I would TRY to replace.

Thanks for all the help i am going to look into getting a new psu or mobo. Yes, it did actually spark and i saw it.
