elite motherboard sound problems

Hello guys.

My father has just bought a built pc from Golden Electronics. It contains an Elite Motherboard. The motherboard has a 6.1ch on board soundcard. When we plug his existing Boston Electronics speakers into the soundcard there is no sound. There are no problems with the speakers. There are two speakers which are fed in to a subwoofer and then in to the pc.

If we plug the monitor speakers in to the soundcard they work fine?????

Is it a question of settings?

Please help.

speaker settings

certain speakers work using digital output this could be the case so if you go into control panel and and go to speaker settings have search round there i can't remember exactly where it is but it is a small tick box which says digital output check it and then click apply etc and try then if it doesnt work let me know

hmmmm did you go into advanced device volume settings? if not go in there and click options and make sure there a tick next to advanced controls then click the advanced button on playback and at the bottom it will have a box saying digital output only! try that if that doesnt work you will need to change the properties of your sound card me thinks!!!
are you sure you are plugging them all in the right places?

i was thinking again and have you got the sound settings on your computer set to 6.1 channel if not you need to otherwise the speakers will not work this is probably more likely than the digital output however would be handy to check that aswell
